Emergencies

Generally speaking, any dental issue that requires immediate attention to alleviate serious pain, save a tooth, or to stop severe bleeding and infections can be considered an emergency. Should you be suffering from any of the dental issues listed below, you should call for an emergency dental appointment.

If you have injuries that are life threatening or beyond dental repair, you should seek help from a medical professional or call 911. However, for dental issues most emergency rooms are limited in what they can do to help.

In accidents where someone damages their teeth, emergency rooms will not be able to do much more than stop the bleeding or provide pain medication. Once the patient is able to leave the ER, they should promptly contact an emergency dentist.

If you can’t schedule online or connect via the phone, hop in your car and drive to our office! We hold time in the schedule every day for same-day emergencies and patients that need our help. We have specialists already in the building and can care for a wide range of dental issues.

You can help protect your filling if still intact by placing it in a zip lock bag and taking it to your dentist. If you’ve lost a dental filling, it’s recommended that you should schedule an emergency dental appointment as soon as possible.

Kids

Tooth decay is one of the most prevalent diseases in children. However, this disease can be prevented, which is why our office in Stamford, CT recommends scheduling regular checkups every six months.

Laughing gas is safe for adults as well as children and can be a great option if you have a dental phobia. Afterwards, patients are typically allowed to drive home or go back to work, and children are often permitted to return to school.

We typically recommend that children visit an orthodontist around the age of 7. Children begin to start losing teeth around the age of 6, and this is also when permanent teeth start to erupt.

If your child has experienced an injury to the mouth, give our Stamford, CT office a call, and we can help guide you on the appropriate course of action.

  • Without touching the root of the tooth, carefully rinse off noticeable debris
  • Have your child place the tooth in the pouch of his or her cheek
  • If you have a younger child, submerge the tooth in a pool of saliva or milk to ensure the tooth remains in a moist environment
  • Immediately proceed to our office or the hospital if necessary
